COVID 19 PRACTICE UPDATE

My practice remains open during the lockdown.

The current situation has gently forced us to adapt on many levels. Some strong evidence has evolved in the past weeks suggesting the power of preventative measures to boost, strengthen or modulate ones immune system to be best prepared for potential risks that we are exposed to in these vulnerable times.

SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

1: Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture and multiple other disciplines like Vitamin C Infusions.

2: Remote consultations are available via WhatsApp at a reduced rate. This is very useful for overseas patients and long consultations especially in the field of cancer care and Integrative Oncology to limit interpersonal physical exposure.

3: Chinese Herbal Medicines are still available through our in house pharmacy depending on availability and stock.

We ensure utmost care and hygienic standards in our treatment rooms and at our entire practice. Door screening and disinfectant are standard procedures to ensure a safe visit for you.

Please let us know your specific questions. We are happy to come back to you.

For further information, appointments, payment modalities and more please contact our practice manager Ilana (021 – 424 68 27 / contact@houseofholistichealth.com) or contact me directly via WhatsApp or SMS (072 658 1164).

MEET DR. PHILIP RUTHER

Philip always reaches out to understand, respect and merge the essences of different world views and health systems in an ongoing quest to harmonise and balance what’s not.

The heartfelt calling to manifest this within a group of like-minded practitioners over the last 12 years, resulted in Philip co-founding the HOUSE OF HOLISTIC HEALTH in 2008 in Cape Town.

Philip has come a long educational way from medical University in Germany and clinical work in Africa, Germany and Switzerland. Rooted in a genuine interest in medicine since childhood, his passion for medicine has been fuelled ever more through the in-depth study of Acupuncture and the foundations of Chinese Medicine (CM) in Beijing, China in 2003.

Ongoing postgraduate studies have led to a wide array of therapeutic modalities and applied treatment systems. His special interest lies in the causal evaluation and holistic treatment of chronic diseases like cancer. The importance of participatory medical interventions with his patients provides the foundation of a deeper understanding of each individual’s needs.

Dr. Philip Ruther practises a form of INTEGRATIVE CHINESE MEDICINE that attempts to integrate the ‘whole-system philosophies’ found in the origin of Chinese Medicine in a practical and approachable way. He integrates modalities such as acupuncture and herbal medicine in close relationship with Dr. Jahn to best meet his patients’ needs. The diagnostic process and the way of evaluating symptoms is also rooted in an understanding of Western-style physiology/biology and Western understanding of the human body.

Philip is married, has two children and has been Board Director of Vulamasango, a well-established youth facilitation centre and orphanage in Philippi, Cape Town, since 2008.

PHILIP´S FAVOURITE BOOKS

HOMO DEUS | YUVAL NOAH HARARI | 2015

Harari recounts the course of history while describing events and the individual human experience, along with ethical issues in relation to his historical survey. Moreover, Homo Deus deals more with the abilities acquired by humans their existence, and their evolution as the dominant species in the world. The book describes mankind’s current abilities and achievements and attempts to paint an image of the future.

THE GLASS BEAD GAME | HERMANN HESSE | 1949

The Glass Bead Game takes place at an unspecified date centuries into the future. Hesse suggested that he imagined the book’s narrator writing around the start of the 25th century. The setting is a fictional province of central Europe called Castalia, which was reserved by political decision for the life of the mind; technology and economic life are kept to a strict minimum.

SIDDAHRTHA | HERMANN HESSE | 1922

Siddhartha is a novel by Hermann Hesse that deals with the spiritual journey of self-discovery of a man named Siddhartha during the time of the Gautama Buddha. The book, Hesse’s ninth novel, was written in German, in a simple, lyrical style. It was published in the U.S. in 1951 and became influential during the 1960s.

BIOLOGY OF BELIEFS | BRUCE LIPTON | 2006

The Biology of Belief is a groundbreaking work in the field of New Biology. Author Dr. Bruce Lipton is a former medical school professor and research scientist. His experiments, and that of other leading-edge scientists, have examined in great detail the processes by which cells receive information.

I CHING THE BOOK OF CHANGES | RICHARD WILHELM, CARY F. BAYNES | 1951

This book, with a foreword by C.G. Jung, owes great credit to the translator and the publishers. No pains have been spared in making the extremely varied contents clear to the reader through brilliant variations of type and management of margins.
